![]() Ferry from Piraeus to the Northern Aegean Islands:.The ferries going to the Dodecanese like Rhodes or Kos depart from Gate E1. ![]() Usually they depart either from Gate E6, E7, E9, or E10. Depending on the vessel and the ferry operator, it departs from a different gate. Piraeus offers faily ferries to the Cycladic complex, to destinations such as Naxos, Paros, Mykonos, Santorini and Ios. Ferries to Heraklion and Chania depart from Gates E2 and E3, while the ferries to Rethymnon depart from Gate E6 or E7. Piraeus port offers daily departures to Crete. The port of Piraeus has 12 well marked gates and each gate is for a different destination. The bus takes about 90 minutes but you can expect to add half an hour in busy rush hour traffic. The bus leaves every 30 to 60 minutes and you must get the bus route X96 "Athens Airport - Piraeus". You can catch this bus from the designated area between Exits 4 and 5 and you will also find a clearly marked ticket booth here. There is an express bus leaving from the airport to the port. We advise you to get an idea of the price before your departure to avoid problems. This price is per taxi and not per person. For example, the airport taxi transfer during the day from 05:00 to 24:00 will cost you around 50 euros, and at night from 00:00 to 05:00 will cost you around 76 euros. You’ll have no trouble finding one, but you should expect if you choose to go to Piraeus by taxi, the cost might be high. Taxis will wait for you at the exit of the airport. The advantage of taking the suburban train over the metro is that you don't have to change trains. The route to Piraeus is one hour long and in order to get to the port, there is a 5-minute walk. You can easily buy your ticket at the ticket booth at the station. ![]() The airport is the first station of the route and Piraeus is the last stop. The suburban train from the airport to the port runs once every hour, starting at 06:00 in the morning until 22:00 at night.
